Theo was in a bad mood. He thought that now that the Mueller report
was over, it would get better working at the White House. Instead, the Democrats seemed hell bent on
fulfilling their campaign promise that if they won the house, they’d impeach
Trump. Those talks had died down and
Nancy Pelosi did a good job of keeping her fellow Democrats at bay. Unfortunately, Bob Mueller wasn’t done. He gave a 10 minute press conference in which
he basically said that nobody would ever hear from him again and he wouldn’t
take any questions. For people who
complain about how secretive the most transparent president in history, Donald
Trump, is, it’s laughable that none of those same people had any problem with
Mueller refusing to answer questions about his report. The speech was a 10 minute virtue signaling
to congress to impeach President Trump but he wants none of the blame or credit
for it. With this added heat, the White
House was a stressful place to be again.
Although Theo normally asked his friends to meet him at the bar, today
he wanted to suffer alone. He sat at the
bar and ordered a drink.
A petite girl in a red polka dot
dress sat next to him. She was elegant
and pretty with light brown hair but skinny in every way possible. She said, “You look down, are you okay?”
“Yea, I’m fine”
“Are you waiting for someone?”
“No, but I don’t think I’ll be
good company right now.” He said despondently.
The girl’s smile was wide and
she said, “Well you’re in luck because I’m great company.”
Theo smiled and the girl said,
“See, It’s already working.”
Theo didn’t want to be rude but
he knew how to make people go away in DC and in New York, where he previously
lived, he stated, “Okay, but I’m a Trump supporter.”
Unlike many previous times he’d
drop this line or the derivation ‘I’m a far right conservative’ the girl didn’t
go away. She tilted her head keeping the
grin and said, “Well then we can debate.
Are you okay with that?”
“Absolutely” Theo said, “I think
the problem with this country is that there isn’t enough debate among people
who disagree”
“Well, we already found common
ground so this may be beneficial. Did
you see Mueller’s speech?”
“Yea, he’s a coward for running
away like that and not answering questions”
“Well, his fellow congressmen
will carry the torch from here.”
Theo gave her an odd look and
retorted, “You do realize that Mueller is part of the executive branch not the
congress? There’s no such thing as his
fellow congressman. He’s an inferior
officer to the president.”
The girl gave an embarrassed
look and pronounced, “No, I didn’t but that’s just technicalities. He didn’t indict Trump because of the OLC”
“It’s called a guideline. He still could of. It’s not a law; you don’t have to follow
it. Ken Starr didn’t. He also told Barr three times in private that
that wasn’t why.”
“Well I don’t know about all
that.”
“I do”
“Okay, but he didn’t lie”
“There’s no point to bring it
up. Why mention it at all if you weren’t
going to use it? The special counsel has
no prosecutorial power to begin with so he couldn’t indict anyway. He recommends to the FBI or other law
enforcement to indict. He only brought
it up to sow doubt to make these impeachment rumbling become hysteric screams from
the top of mountains.”
“Well, I can’t deny that that is
what happened but he said that the report speaks for itself.”
“That’s the problem. The report is a fraud. He leaves out information to try to make it
seem like it’s worse than it is. If I
was gathering evidence to charge someone and then I realized that there was no
reason to prosecute. I then tell the court
that I’m dropping charges because there’s no evidence. Afterwards, I release all the evidence to
the public without giving the guy I was going to charge any chance to defend
himself. What would you think?”
“No big deal. Respond after it’s public”
“The fact that people think that
is the problem. Let me ask you
something. If you are a defendant for a
crime and you are let go then what did the jury find?”
“That you’re not guilty?”
“Right, they don’t say
‘innocent.”
“It’s implied because you’re
innocent until proven guilty”
“Okay, so take the Mueller
situation when he said that they didn’t find any evidence he didn’t commit a
crime.”
The girl looked back and forth
and she stated, “I don’t know what you’re getting at.”
“You’re innocent until proven
guilty. You just said that. So, there’s no such thing as not finding
evidence you didn’t commit a crime. The
whole point of a criminal proceeding is trying to find evidence you did commit
a crime. If you don’t find evidence he
committed a crime, he’s innocent.
There’s no varying degree. Either
there’s evidence you committed a crime so you are charged or there isn’t and
you’re not. As a lawyer, Mueller knows
that.”
“Well do you have an example of
stuff he left out?”
“One of Trump’s lawyers, John
Dowd, left a voice mail for Michael Flynn’s lawyer. With this declassification, we now have a
transcript of the voicemail to be compared with what Flynn’s lawyer said.”
“Which was….?”
“He was asking to get on the
same page and he said, ‘So let me know what you plan to say, you know, if you
can without giving any confidential information, it would be good to see.’ Mueller took the part about ‘don’t give me
confidential information’ out. What
you’re left with is, “Let me know what you plan to say…that would be good to
see.’ Without that clause is sounds
worse than it is.”
“Well, they were meeting to see
what he was going to say.”
“Lawyers talk all the time. Prosecutors give the defense all their notes
so they can form a defense to it in court.
It’s part of the discovery.
There’s nothing wrong with that.”
“Like in My Cousin Vinny”
“Yes, Like in My Cousin Vinny”
“Are there any more?”
“There’s a lot of them but
what’s most interesting is the DOJ seems to be covering one up.”
“Now you sound like a
conspiracist”
“You know how Barr has the power
to declassify anything he wants?”
“Yes”
“Well, he told the DOJ to
declassify the transcript between Mike Flynn and Kislayek”
“I’m afraid I don’t remember
that part.”
“Mike Flynn was the director of
national security under Trump and Obama.
He was fired by Obama because he openly critiqued the Iran deal. While he was in the Dominican Republic, Obama
disbanded a group of Russian diplomats that were living 30 miles from DC. The Russian ambassador, Kislayek, called
Flynn to talk about sanctions and Obama sending the diplomats home. Like six weeks later, they interviewed Flynn
about that conversation. The FBI agents
that interviewed him said he wasn’t being deceptive but since his recollection
didn’t match exactly with the transcript, they charged him with lying to the
FBI. They then threatened his family and
kept appeals and lawsuits on him until he spent over a million dollars in legal
fees only to give up and plea guilty to save his family from bankruptcy and
whatever they threatened his kid with”
“That sounds really shitty”
“It is, but that’s not the worst
part.”
“What’s the worst part?”
“Why won’t the DOJ give the
transcript that they compared Flynn’s comments to in order to charge him? The FBI writes memos called ‘302’s’ when they
interview people. It gives details about
what was talked about. What if the FBI
302 and the transcripts match up? Is
that why they’re hiding it and refusing a direct order to declassify it? If the 302 matches the transcript for all
intents of purposes then they did all that on someone they knew was
innocent. They falsely charged him and
then bankrupted him and went after his family for a lie. If they can do this to a lieutenant in the
United States Army and the Director of National intelligence, think about what
they can do to you.”
The girl declared, “Okay, now I
know why you’re drinking and I think I need one too.”
Theo ordered her a drink. He turned to her and said, “By the way,
what’s your name?”
“Athena”
“Hi Athena, I’m Theo” as he put
out his hands and Athena shook it.”
A guy came up and said, “Hey
Athena, sorry I’m late.”
Athena said, “Hey Imtiaz, this
is Theo, he’s a Trump supporter that I’ve been having an interesting discussion
with.”
Imtiaz glared at Theo and said,
“Just so you know, you’re boy is going to get impeached.”
“The Senate won’t kick him out
of office after you do but I fear what will happen to the country.”
“Oh please, we survived before
him, we’ll be better without him”
“No, because you’re going to
have conservatives protesting. Now, that
in and of itself isn’t bad as they, unlike liberals, don’t destroy property or
make a mess when they protest, but with the counter protests of the violent
libelous, scandalous, anarchist, treacherous left, someone is going to do
something stupid. The Left is going to
attack a large group of conservatives and unlike what they normally do, the
conservatives may fight back and it’s going to end very badly for the left.”
“Why would you worry about
that?”
“This is my country. We don’t want Civil War but conservatives are
being harassed in restaurants, store owners are being vandalized and victimized
if they serve conservatives or have conservative values, they are being banned
from social media. With all this discrimination, I see impeaching a president
because they spied on him and wanted him to toe the line and refused could be
the catalyst for relatively non-violent conservatives to become violent.”
“Bring it on”
“We have ex-military, cops,
hunters, and martial artists on our side.
You’re side has teachers college students and gamers, do you really
think you want this fight? Conservatives
aren’t non-violent because they can’t throw down; they’re non-violent because
they know how unstructured combat is like and how ugly it is. They try to avoid it because they’ve seen,
been in and done shit. Also, some of
them are religious and God told them to turn the other cheek but even Jesus
destroyed a temple because people were selling shit in it. Everyone has their limits.”
“You sound like Dan Bongino”
“He’s a great example. Trained in boxing and Brazilian Ju Jitsu, was
a secret service agent and a cop. He can
throw down but he hates violence and avoids it at all costs but he’ll be in the
protest.”
“Are you aware of that war he’s
having with the producer of ‘Chernobyl?’”
“Yes, are you aware the
ridiculousness of taking offense because the host of a podcast that millions of
people listen to daily endorsed and promoted the show you produced?”
Imtiaz seemed to consider it,
“Well, I think he just meant that Bongino didn’t understand” he stated not very
convincingly.
“I would argue the producer
doesn’t understand Chernobyl despite the research he must have done to make a
historically accurate series like he did.
Still, you want people to discuss and debate your art. Every piece of art is different because it
changes depending on who’s viewing it.
You should encourage that not get offended because someone that differs
from you ideologically likes your product.”
“I see your point but you can’t
blame socialism for an accident. There
are accidents all the time. There was
even one in America with Three Mile Island”
“Three Mile Island was not a
level 7 event so no there hasn’t been an accident like Chernobyl very
often. It’s only happened twice;
Chernobyl and Fukushima”
“There you go, Japan isn’t
communist”
“The problem with Chernobyl
wasn’t the accident; it was the cover up of the accident. Free markets stop cover ups.”
Imtiaz took on a sarcastic tone
as he fired back, “Oh right, the free market solved all life’s problems”
“Why do you think that the same
level 7 nuclear accident led to 2,000 deaths in Fukushima and tens of thousands
in Chernobyl?”
Imtiaz opened his mouth to speak but
then closed it. Athena asked, “Why?”
“In Fukushima, as things were
failing and the nuclear plant was melting down, they evacuated everyone. First it was to five kilometers, then 10 and
then 20. The immediate death toll was 0
as opposed to Chernobyl that wanted to save face and said there was no
problem. The communists believed that
bad press was unacceptable so they denied it so people stayed. They stayed and they died. Fukushima was not communist so they’re okay
with bad press and admitted that there was a problem and tried to preserve life
rather than preserve their image. And
this is in a culture that thinks suicide is honorable! They had more respect for life than the
communists in the Soviet Union”
Imtiaz responded, “Well, it was
lovely talking to you. I’ll see you at
the Civil War” as he got up with a smile and walked out.
Athena frowned but went with Imtiaz. Theo paid his bill and tried walking
out. A woman with tanned skin said, “You
know you shouldn’t drink without eating something.”
Theo turned around to find a
dark brown haired girl that was about a foot shorter than his six foot
frame. She had tanned skin and was
wearing a T-shirt that showed her stomach and short shorts. Theo said, “I think that’s a good idea. What’s your name?”
“Dite”
“Hi Dite, I’m Theo”
They sat at a table and Dite
said, “So where are you from?”
“Grew up in Cleveland but I
spent most of my life in New York.”
“I’m from New York as well.”
“Nice, where in New York?”
“The Bronx. Where did you live?”
“All over the east side of
Manhattan, Bay Ridge and Astoria.”
“You moved a lot within New York
before coming here.”
“I did.”
“Do you still keep up with it?”
“I do”
“I heard you talking about
politics. You seem pretty knowledgeable;
you’re not like most conservatives.
You’re pretty calm and not angry.”
“I don’t think you know many
conservatives then. You just go by what
the media tells you conservative are.”
“Ah the whole ‘fake news’”
“Yea”
“What do you think about this
Supreme Court Case with the Department of Commerce vs. New York?”
“The idea of asking citizenship
on the census? I don’t really know. Obviously, I’m okay with the question because
when determining the amount of House of Representatives you get, you should
only count citizens. I just have a
strange feeling because it’s eerily like the debate that led to the 3/5
compromise. Except for the very big part
that we’re not talking about slaves, we’re talking about illegals”
“Undocumented workers”
“No, they came into the country
illegally, they’re illegals. You assume
they’re working, many don’t. Many are
gangsters or just here for the free healthcare and government benefits. My label does incorporate all of them not
just some of them.”
“That’s a strange way to accuse
me of stereotyping.”
“You are, but it’s the way your
brain processes information so for the most part it’s okay. In this case it’s not though because you’re
basing your stereotype on ignorance and what you’ve been programmed by the media
to say rather than actual logic and interactions.”
“Ah” she uttered unconvincingly
“To answer your question and
getting over my trepidation that we’re in the same debate that we went through
over 200 years ago, I feel the issues is the more residents that are declared
ineligible to vote, the more your vote counts because you make up a larger
percentage. When the governor draws
districts to try to make districts where minorities are the majorities so they
can exploit them with barrios that are the modern day version of plantations,
then it works against them if the illegals can’t vote.”
“Wow, that was a lot. Plantations?”
“Yes, they give them welfare;
they tell them that if they try to get a job and make something of themselves,
they’ll take away their benefits. Just
like how a slave master tells them that they can go in the real world but then
nobody is going to feed, clothe and house them.
They tell them how scary it is.
The difference is they put the slave to work. In the barrios, they just want you to
vote. I mean look at every city with a
black mayor or where blacks are in power.
They do nothing to help black people.
If the Supreme Court rules in favor of the citizenship question, then
these barrios that you drew arbitrarily may end up being white majority because
most of the minorities are ineligible then the white people can stop the
community from being a barrio and actually help people make something of
themselves.”
“I feel like you’re being racist
but you’re also talking about getting minorities out of the barrios and getting
them off welfare and making them self-sufficient so I’m confused.”
“Get rid of your theory that
conservatives are racists and there will be no more contradiction in your
head.”
“It’s just highly charged”
“I admit it is, but that doesn’t
make it false.”
“Let’s just move on. What do you think of Joe Biden?”
“I hate him. He has so much baggage with his collusion
with Ukraine, Spygate, his son laundering money, his inappropriate touching and
the fact that the left has spent years saying old white people shouldn’t be in
charge and now they may nominate one.”
“How does Biden have anything to
do with Spygate?”
“In those infamous texts between
Lisa Page and Strzok, Page, the FBI lawyer, says, ‘POTUS wants to know what
we’re doing.’ In that meeting where they tell Obama what they were doing, Joe
Biden was in attendance.”
“When was this?”
“January 5, 2017”
Dite thinks about this for a
little bit and articulates, “Right, Trump is inaugurated in mid-January so
Obama is a lame duck still.”
“That’s correct”
“Proceed, I’m with you.”
“After the meeting Susan Rice
sends an e-mail to herself. She says
they talked about that Obama wanted everything done by the book from a law
enforcement aspect. She then
distinguishes that from a national security operation in which there are some
things they should keep secret from the next administration.”
“The first part is fine, but the
second part is a little sketchy. I mean
Trump is going to have the same position, so he should probably have the same
information.”
“Right”
“But, I mean you don’t want to
be President and then have that joy diminished because the Russians made it
happen.”
“A couple weeks before the
election, Obama gave a speech in the Rose Garden saying how it was ridiculous
that an American election can be stolen because it’s declassified”
“He only said that because Trump
was talking about how if he lost, then there was voter fraud.”
“Exactly, he set Obama up. He knew he’d win. He knew that the Democrats and Hillary were
colluding with Ukraine and Russia so he accused them of doing what they would
accuse him of. He called their
shot. The fact that they took the bait
and we still had the last three years, just shows how stupid the American
people are.”
“I don’t know about all
that. I mean Trump could just be
projecting.”
“Something else the Democrats do
well. In fact, it’s really their only
move. That and name calling.”
Dite gave a wry smile, “Very
funny” she retorted sarcastically
Theo continued, “The e-mail was
a cover. With that e-mail Obama can say
that he told them to do it by the book and they didn’t. He’s throwing the FBI under the bus. The first part was written for a reason”
“And the second part?”
“That part is true.”
“That doesn’t make sense. The same e-mail is half cover up half truth? If it doesn’t say what you want it’s a
conspiracy, if it does then it’s true.”
“With Barr’s investigations into
the origin and the Dossier not being verified and Mueller giving a new standard
of justice that the prosecutor no longer needs to prove you committed a crime
but he also has to prove you didn’t commit a crime, is there any doubt that
some of this wasn’t done by the book before January 5, 2017?”
“Mueller is the only thing that
happened after but yea all the other stuff before is a little sketchy but the
dossier hasn’t been refuted.”
“Again, it’s been refuted. There’s holes, there’s more evidence it
didn’t happen then it did.”
“Why do you say again?”
“You’re saying that when you get
accused of something, the burden is on you to prove you didn’t do it. That’s not how it works. They have to prove you did it.”
“Oh shit, right, yea, the whole
innocent until proven guilty thing.”
“Yea, and every high ranking
person of the DOJ and FBI has said the dossier wasn’t verified.”
“So it wasn’t done by the book.”
“And the FISA warrants and
Strzok’s investigation and the charging of Flynn and Papadopoulos happened
before January 5, 2017, so…..”
“If you put in writing to do it
by the book it’s too late for the FBI to do it by the book.”
“So why do it?”
“I’m not going to go so far as
to say it’s a cover up. But, I don’t
have an alternate explanation. I’ll just
admit it wasn’t done by the book and it does make the FBI look bad. What do you want to see happen?”
“I want Obama to testify under
oath.”
“And ask him what?”
“Did you tell the FBI to do the
investigation by the book and they disobeyed a direct order or did you tell
them not to do it by the book and they were just following orders? I’d also like them to ask the FBI the same
question.”
“Obama will never testify”
“I know, the DOJ is still run by
Hillary. We’ll never get justice.”
“That’s why you had all that ‘Civil
War’ talk.”
“I hope I’m wrong. I probably am. I just work in the White House so I’m on the
front lines of listening to the fights.
I guess the average person doesn’t really care or is involved. I mean there’s so many examples of people
walking the streets asking people questions to show how little they know so
maybe I’m exaggerating.”
“I think you are but those
things are selectively chosen”
“Maybe but I’m not so sure.”
They finished dinner-and went their separate ways. To be honest, Theo felt better than when he
first came in. He wondered if in a short
time, Capitol Hill would be full of conservatives and counter-protesters would
come to try to provoke an incident. What
would happen? He hopes he won’t find out. He hopes that the Democrats and Justin Amash
will do the right thing and not impeach the president. His faith in the Democrats doing the right
thing, however, had hit zero. Time will
tell
