It is
day two of the impeachment hearing and Adam Schiff is presiding over his House
intelligence committee as he is the chairman.
Over at the White House, employees are glued to their TV sets to see
what will transpire. Most of them are
confident that their boss will not be removed from office so they are about to
view without worry of chaos that will ensue at their place of employment. The first witness they call is Tim Morrison,
who is a member of the National Security Council (NSC). The NSC is where the whistleblower Eric
Ciaramella worked so that is why he is seen as a key witness since he works for
the same agency that raised concerns over President Trump’s conversation with
Ukrainian president Zelensky that they based the impeachment inquiry on. Morrison is asked, “Ambassador Taylor’s
statement relates that you told him the President doesn’t want to provide any
assistance at all. Is that true?”
Morrison
responds, “Yes”
“Can
you help me understand what that meant?”
“The
President’s general antipathy to foreign aid as well as his concern that the Ukrainians are not paying
their fair share, as well as his concerns when our aid would be misused because
of the view that Ukraine has a significant corruption problem (P79).”
There’s a lot of puzzled faces
in the viewing audience at the White House.
Morrison just contradicted the entire narrative. Schiff and the Democrats said that President
Trump withheld the aid because he wanted them to investigate Hunter Biden and
Burisma. Morrison is now saying that
this was the general policy that he had.
He went on to say that President Trump was especially worried about
Ukraine since they don’t pay their fair share and have a long history of
corruption so the aid may be misused.
One White House employee, Theo, blurts out, “This is Schiff’s witness
right?”
“Yes”
“So the Democrats’ own witness
just completely destroyed their narrative.”
“It would appear so yes.”
Later, Morrison brings up that
he was concerned about Colonel Vindman’s judgment. When pressed, Morrison revealed that he had
discussions with Dr Mills in the transition team and their strength and
weaknesses. Fiona and others had raised
concerns about Alex’s (Vindman) judgment.
Theo comments to the TV,
“Whatever happened to nobody can question Colonel Vindman because he was in the
military? Schiff said nothing to
Morrison.”
“it’s his witness”
“Yea, some witness.” Theo said
sarcastically.
After the Morrison debacle, the
White House employees had a new found interest. They wanted to see just how
much damage the Democrats were going to self-inflict with this hoax. They called Marie Yovanovitch who was the
ambassador to Ukraine until President Trump fired her. She is being questioned by Chris Steward who
is a Republican representative from Utah.
Stweard inquires, “Do you have any evidence that President Trump
received a bribe?”
“No” Yovanovitch responds
“Do you have any information
that a crime involving the president happened at all?”
“No”
Theo adds, “Then why are you at
an impeachment hearing?”
The room laughs but they are a
little stunned at how ridiculous the witnesses are. It is now John Radcliffe’s turn to ask
questions. He poses, “If you were
focused on ending corruption in Ukraine while appointed by Obama. Is it your testimony that only one Ukrainian
company interested Biden and Obama and that was the one Hunter Biden worked
for?”
“Yes”
“You understood from Secretary
George Kent that Hunter’s arrangement in Burisma caused him enough concern that
it was a conflict of interest. Do you
recall and agree with that?”
“Yes, I think it could raise the
appearance of a conflict of interest.”
The hearing goes from bad to
worse as Schiff refuses to recognize or let any members yield their time to
Representative Elise Stefanik, one of the few Republican representatives in New
York. He constantly bangs his gavel and
refuses to let her speak and says the gentlewoman will not be recognized and
will suspend. It is an egregious abuse
of power and the fact that Schiff gets away with it sickens the White House
employees watching, especially the women who believe a man silencing a woman is
reprehensible. That set the mood for the
rest of the work day. At the end of the
day, Theo goes to American University to see what college kids are saying at
the local watering hole also known as a bar.
He sees a girl with short black hair, a round face and proportioned body
sitting at the bar. He walks over there
with a drink and introduces himself.
Normally he waits for people to start talking about politics and he
injects himself in the conversation but he breaks from his routine this
time. He utters, “Hi, I’m Theo.”
“I’m Stella”
“Nice to meet you”
“Likewise.”
“Did you see the impeachment
hearings?”
“I did. I wish they asked more questions of
Yovanovitch though.”
“Like what?”
“Well John Radcliffe grilled her
pretty hard.”
“Well, she said she was focused
on exposing corruption in Ukraine and ignored the biggest corruption scandal
that the country had. Radcliffe had to
bring that up to discredit her because she should be discredited because you
can’t claim to be about ending corruption and then not care about Burisma,
which may be the most corrupt agency in Ukraine.”
“Would you say that if she was a
man?”
“Of course I would. Yovanovitch complains about getting fired but
she was very vocal how much she hated Trump overseas. Aside from that, it is standard practice for
presidents to fire all the ambassadors of the previous administration. Obama did it in 2008, so just at face value
it doesn’t mean anything but President Trump actually had just cause to fire
Yovanovitch and he didn’t even need any. “
“I guess when you have a tag
line in a TV show, ‘you’re fired,’ that should’ve been a clue.”
“There you go.”
“I don’t know I just felt bad
for her.”
“I didn’t. earlier she released a statement that neither
Biden or Obama ever raised the topic of Burisma and Hunter Biden to her but
then in her deposition to be confirmed, she informs the committee that during
preparation for the questions she may be asked at the confirmation hearing,
Obama and Biden specifically prepared her on questions about Bursima and Hunter
Biden.”
“Yea, but the answer was to
refer the question to Vice President Joe Biden’s office.”
“Joe Biden claimed he didn’t
know anything about Hunter and Burisma either.”
“Well, then he’s the one that’s
lying since he felt his office was fully prepared to answer the question. Call him out.”
“I call them both out. I think they’re both lying.”
“At least you’re consistent but
I don’t think Yovanovitch is lying. They
didn’t talk about it because they just told her to refer it to Joe Biden.”
“If she’s going to be the
highest US official in Ukraine, don’t you thinks he should be a little curious
and know about their largest energy company?”
“Maybe but that doesn’t mean she
did. Why is Radcliffe attacking her
anyway?”
“He believes that the Democrats
are doing all this because they’re trying to beat the IG report”
“Well that’s obviously a
conspiracy theory.”
“When every witness testified
today that President Trump is not guilty of a high crime, misdemeanor or
bribery, then why was there an impeachment hearing?”
A boy walked over and
interrupted, “You have to admit man, between Russia and Ukraine, there’s too
much smoke to not be fire.”
“No, I don’t have to admit
that. Especially since both Russian
collusion and the Trump phone call are the same hoax. In your case, you looked at the same smoke
and thought it was two different ones.”
“How do you figure?”
“Marie Yovanovitch testified
that Serhiy Luschenko helped the DNC and Alexandra Chalupa to dig up dirt on
Paul Manafort to hurt Trump. Luschenko
was the one that gave the DNC the black ledger, which was a fake document about
Manfort’s corruption.”
“What does that have to do with
Yovanovitch?”
“Yovanovitch wrote a letter to
the prosecutor general of Ukraine, after Biden got the previous one fired, that
he shouldn’t prosecute Leschenko.
Leschenko was also the source for Michael Isikoff, the reporter that
first leaked the fake dossier. It’s the same person involved in both hoaxes.”
“I don’t know about all that but
I talk to people and there’s just too many scandals for there not to be
something.”
“Not sure who you’re talking to
considering Rasmussen shows Trump’s approval rating at 50%. Given that it was 46% four days ago before
these hearings started, I’d say the people you talk to aren’t representative of
the country.”
“That still means 50% of people
don’t like him.”
“At this point in his
presidency, Obama was only 49%.”
“One point; who cares?”
“You should. Especially since Rasmussen also found that
voters wanted to hear about Ukraine and Burisma from Joe and Hunter Biden.”
“Joe is running for president.”
“So that makes him above the
law?”
The boy storms off and Stella
doesn’t miss a beat. She declares, “I
didn’t like what happened with Elise Stefanik though”
“At least you’re consistent”
“What do you mean?”
“You said you don’t like men
silencing or going hard after women.
What Schiff did was much worse than what Radcliffe did.”
“Oh, no question. Schiff was really obnoxious.”
“With all his gavel hitting and
telling her she’s not recognized and she will suspend. Fuck that misogynistic pig.”
“He only did it because Stefanik
is doing real damage to the Democrats.
That’s why they target her.
What’s really sad is the media and twitter piled on. One even called her ‘trash.”
“That’s fucked up.”
“I agree; not the mention
hypocritical since when Kamala Harris was interrupted at the Senate hearings,
everyone criticized the committee and made her out to be a victim hero.”
“There was even a hashtag, ‘Trashy
Stefanik’; that’s just wrong.”
“Agreed”
Theo closes his tab and after he
writes in the tip, the bartender cries out, “Go squad, the future of America.”
The bar cheers and Theo smiles
and fires back, “You know that 75% of them are being investigated for campaign
finance violations?”
“So what, everyone does it.”
“No, they don’t but if Ilhan
Omar, Rashida Tlib and AOC are going to be moral authorities and virtue signal
all the time, they may not want to have scandals such as those. They should probably make sure they’re
squeaky clean.”
When there was no response, Theo
walked out the door. He made his way to
the metro and headed to his house in Rockville, Maryland. While on the platform, college kids were
talking about Democratic socialism. One
articulates, “Just like the Nordic countries.
It’s worked really well there so why not do it here?”
Theo called out, “You do know
the Finnish government just collapsed because of the cost of Universal
healthcare and Sweden, Norway and Denmark have a lot of people that buy private
insurance anyway because the government’s insurance is so bad.”
“So Finland messed it up.”
“Reuters found similar problems
in Sweden and Denmark. It’s like the
Euro, first Greece collapsed then Spain, then Italy and a chain reaction as
economies kept failing trying to keep up with the price of the Euro.”
Whereas Theo’s journey would be
over an hour and half, the college students got on the train and got off
quickly. Theo closed his eyes and tried
getting some rest. He was forced to open
them when he heard a man remark, “Pete Buttiegieg is making a startling
comeback. He may win the nomination.”
Theo responded, “He won in Iowa
and New Hampshire. Those states are
predominantly white and he does very badly with the black vote. I don’t anticipate him picking up states with
a substantial sized black population.”
“Funny you say that because his
campaign just came out with a list of 400 black South Carolinians that support
him.”
“Read the update; 42% of the
people on the list turned out to be White.
Others called to say they never told anyone that they supported
him. He just lied on multiple
fronts. It got even worse when it was
revealed he used stock photos of Kenyans.”
“If any of that is true, then
it’s going to destroy him. In fact, I
doubt it because it would be all over the news if it was true.”
“It’s called ‘fake news’ for a
reason but research it yourself. The
media supports Democrats but everything I told you is true. Because of it, I’m pretty sure Buttigieg will
not be the nominee.”
There was silence on the train
and Theo arrived home. He found that he
was more tired than he normally was but didn’t really know why as he got a lot
of sleep the night before. He went to
bed early ready to do it all over again tomorrow.
